I wish I had an answer for that. I'm sure that will unfold as this endeavor of mine takes shape and evolves over time. Most likely a hodgepodge of musings on my makeup and skincare obsessions, the absurdities and joys of parenting three busy teens essentially by myself in the unique ecosystem that IS Long Island, NY, random life observations, and yes, the Rodan and Fields products I'm loving at the moment.
Since I am the most unlikely person to sign on to sell ANYTHING (the only job I EVER got fired from was selling memberships at an all women's gym, because when people said the place looked like a dump, I agreed with them and let them leave), I guess that is the best place to start. When I go to faculty meetings at work, the powers that be love to say, "Begin with your WHY", so well, WHY not?
I have struggled with eczema, cystic acne, rosacea, and extremely sensitive skin since I was five years old. In my forties, I became colonized with MRSA, and was hospitalized several times because the protective barrier on my skin was so damaged that bacteria easily found great places to live and start very large families. Throughout my adulthood, I used the same face wash and moisturizer without fail, because my skin is so sensitive that using the wrong product, even "hypoallergenic" ones, could have me paying the price for weeks afterward. But, getting older being what it is, as I moved into my forties, those two products were not enough. And so the search began.
After a year of discussion, a friend of mine convinced me to give Rodan and Fields a try. I had just gotten out of the hospital with yet ANOTHER MRSA outbreak on my face, and I'd had enough. My friend Elly sent the Soothe Regimen over to me, and honestly, I've never looked back. It took about two weeks for me to see the redness calming down. The open and irritated areas were beginning to heal, and no new ones were replacing them. My skin just FELT better. Better than it had in... well... EVER, really. Things happened to me that had never happened before. I went to a cosmetic store to get a new foundation (because the redness was gone, my old ones were no longer the right shades) and the makeup artist helping me said, "I'm looking for places you need concealer, but there is nothing to cover". WHAAAA? She asked me what I used on my skin and I told her, referring her to my friend Elly. A few months later, I went to my dermatologist who commented, "If this is what Rodan and Fields has done for your skin, keep using it. I've never seen your skin look this good. Ever." After I referred two more people to her, my friend Elly convinced me to sign on as a consultant because "I've just made money that really should have been yours".
So here I am. I refuse to be spammy. I don't want to be "That Girl" - you know, the one everyone hates because she's always trying to sell you something or join her team. But I do plan on sharing my thoughts on products, life's ups, life's downs, random absurd thoughts I have, and other musings.
Thanks for taking a step with me.
